The Renal Unit at Nazareth Hospital provides safe, reliable dialysis and holistic kidney care. Our team includes nephrologists, dialysis nurses, nutritionists and a counselling service to support patients and families through every step of treatment.

How to Book

  1. Referral from your clinician (or walk-in assessment at Renal Clinic).
  2. Insurance pre-authorization where applicable (our team can guide you).
  3. Schedule your regular sessions (2–3 times per week per your prescription).
  4. Orientation on unit rules, access care, diet & fluid management.

What to Expect on Dialysis Day

  • Vital signs & weight check on arrival
  • Machine setup and needle/catheter access by a dialysis nurse
  • 3–4 hours treatment (varies with prescription)
  • Post-dialysis observation, medication review, next session confirmation

Safety & Quality

  • Strict infection prevention & machine disinfection between sessions
  • Water treatment and regular quality checks
  • Nephrologist oversight and emergency response protocols
  • Dietary counselling for salt, potassium, phosphorus & fluids

Referrals

Clinicians can refer patients directly to the Renal Unit. Please include recent labs (U&E, FBC), imaging reports if available, current medications, and access status (AV fistula/catheter).

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients attend 2–3 sessions per week based on medical assessment. Your nephrologist will prescribe what’s safest for you.
Light meals are usually fine, but avoid heavy or very salty foods before treatment. Our nutritionist will give you a tailored plan.
Please alert your nurse immediately. We monitor you throughout, and a clinician is on call for urgent issues.
