Your surgery journey

What to expect before, during and after your procedure.

1) Surgical consult

Meet the surgeon, review diagnosis, and agree a treatment plan. Bring prior results or referral letters.

2) Pre-op assessment

Anaesthesia review, labs, imaging, ECG as indicated. We optimise chronic conditions before surgery.

3) Day of surgery

Admission, consent, fasting checks, and theatre. Family will be updated and guided on pick-up/visiting.

4) Recovery & pain control

Monitored in Recovery/ICU/HDU or ward. Our team prioritises comfort, early mobilisation, and safety.

5) Discharge & follow-up

Clear home-care instructions, medications, and a follow-up date. Physiotherapy and wound clinic as needed.

Pre-op checklist

  • Valid ID, insurance card/SHA details, pre-authorisation where required
  • Recent test results & current medication list
  • Observe fasting instructions (as advised by Anaesthesia)
  • Arrange an adult to accompany you home for day-case surgery

After your surgery

  • Take medicines exactly as prescribed
  • Keep wound clean and dry; return for dressing changes as instructed
  • Seek urgent help if fever, bleeding, severe pain, or difficulty breathing

Estimated costs vary by procedure, length of stay, implants, medication, and tests. We provide a written estimate after your consult and pre-op review.

  • We support SHA and major private insurers with pre-authorisation where applicable.
  • Self-pay packages available for common day-case procedures.
  • Financial counselling is available via our Billing Office.
